How to Market Your Art
Thursday, September 27th at 6:00PM
at the My-T-Fine Restaurant
Just like it’s difficult to write about ourselves in our artist statements, it’s equally difficult, perhaps more so, for artists to market ourselves and our work.
This presentation talks about a number of different marketing options, including free publicity and how to get it, email marketing, social media, blogging, proposals, advertisements, and more. I talk briefly about branding and copywriting, which is the basis of any marketing, and delve into the pros and cons of free vs. paid marketing efforts, how to overcome your own modesty, how not to come off as “salesy,” the different types of marketing for artists in particular, and why it’s so important for your business. If you don’t market your work, no one will know you exist. If they don’t know you exist, they can’t buy from you or recommend your work to others. Without some amount of marketing, there is no business. Free Event - Register by emailing jpaxman@swantonartscouncil.org

      Social Media for Artists
Thursday, October 4th  at 6:00PM
at the My-T-Fine Restaurant
Most people know how to use social media for their own personal use, keeping in touch with friends, posting photos, etc., but few know how to optimize the platforms for their businesses.

Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter can be especially effective for visual artists, because the platforms are geared toward visual content. This presentation gives insight into how to best use those and other platforms to increase brand awareness, engage and grow your audience, make more sales, and drive more traffic to your own website, shop, and events. I discuss the pros and cons of each platform, how they can help your business, best practices, tips and techniques, and how to gain insight into your audience so you can create even more engaging posts and grow your audience further.  Free Event - Register by emailing jpaxman@swantonartscouncil.org
